You know what chafes my hide? What chafes my hide is when someone claims that sex, or even romance on its own, somehow cheapens an otherwise deep and meaningful relationship. Apparently, this transition from platonic to romantic and/or sexual—not to mention all the various degrees of human intimacy—just strips away something worthwhile. I don’t get it.
I don’t know where this belief stems from. I know it’s personal opinion or preference or what have you, and should be respected, but it still chips away at my patience every time I see it. In real life, in fiction, whatever. Mea culpa.
